Word Assessment Part 1

Microsoft Word Assessment


Today you will use your Microsoft office skills to create a children's place-mat menu.

Look up place-mat menus online to get an idea, then  complete the following:

Create a Children’s Restaurant Menu/Place-mat

Size:  8 ½” x 14”


Create a children’s placemat menu for your favorite restaurant.  Start a blank publication.  Change the page orientation to Landscape.  Change the paper size to 8 ½ x 14”.  Set the margins to narrow ( .5” all around).



Side One (page 1):

Come up with a creative name for your restaurant.  Put it on your menu.

Must include

6 menu main course items,

4 drink choices, and

3 desserts.

Offer a description (google restaurants to sample their children’s menu items). Be specific and somewhat detailed.

You CANNOT copy text from the internet

Adjust font sizes and text boxes to be sure all meal offerings fit on one page.

Side Two (page 2):

Must include 4 games

Examples are riddles, connect the dots, crossword, word finder, etc.

Only use one of each type of game. For example you can only use tic, tac, toe once.  Games CAN be copied from the internet.


10 points each



Your menu must be colorful and include

  • a minimum of 4 different font types,
  • a minimum of 4 different colors
  • 10 clips (images CAN be copied from the Internet, i.e. pictures of your menu items, burgers, fries, etc.)
